EV Charging Software Development

We build OCPP-compliant EV charging software, from white-label CPO platforms to charge point management, billing, and driver apps. Our own platform, Chargly, powers the EV168 charging network in Cambodia, so your project starts from code already proven in production.

What We Build

  • White-label CPO platforms with your branding, tariffs, and payment providers
  • Charge point management systems with real-time OCPP monitoring and remote control
  • Driver mobile apps for finding, starting, and paying for charging sessions
  • Billing engines covering tariffs, sessions, invoicing, and settlement
02

Our EV Platform Experience

  • Chargly, our white-label, multi-tenant charging platform, live at chargly.app
  • Deployed in production for the EV168 charging network in Cambodia
  • OCPP connectivity proven against more than 200 charger models
  • Multi-tenant architecture supporting multiple operators, currencies, and tariff schemes
03

Technologies & Standards

  • OCPP 1.6-J and 2.0.1 over WebSocket
  • OCPI for roaming and network interoperability
  • React Native driver apps for iOS and Android
  • Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Docker on AWS or DigitalOcean

We built an EV charging platform before we sold one

Chargly is our own white-label, multi-tenant EV charging platform: charge point management, OCPP communication, tariffs, billing, and driver apps, running live at chargly.app. We built it, we operate it, and we deployed it for the EV168 charging network in Cambodia, which runs its stations, payments, and drivers on it today. When you hire us for EV charging software, you are hiring the team behind a platform already in production, not one learning OCPP on your budget.

That changes how a project starts. Instead of a blank whiteboard, we begin from working code that already speaks OCPP to more than 200 charger models, handles multiple tenants and currencies, and processes real payments. We know where the awkward parts live: chargers that implement the spec loosely, sessions that drop mid-charge, and reconciliation between meter values and invoices. Your budget goes into what makes your network different, not into rediscovering those lessons at your expense.

How much does EV charging software development cost?

A white-label deployment on Chargly is the fast path: your branding, your tariffs, your payment providers, typically live in four to eight weeks, with setup usually in the $10,000 to $40,000 range plus an ongoing platform fee. A custom CPO platform built from scratch is a different scale of project, commonly $80,000 to $250,000 or more over six to twelve months, depending on OCPP scope, payment integrations, and how many apps you need.

What moves the number most: OCPP 2.0.1 support with smart charging profiles, roaming via OCPI, native driver apps for iOS and Android, and local payment methods without clean APIs. We quote both paths after a scoping call and tell you which one fits your situation. Many operators start white-label to get revenue flowing early, then fund custom features from a running network rather than from projections in a spreadsheet.

Should you white-label or build a custom CPO platform?

White-label, if your advantage is location, hardware, and operations rather than software. You get charge point management, billing, and driver apps in weeks, with our team maintaining OCPP compatibility as charger firmware changes, which it does constantly. EV168 took this route: their charging network in Cambodia runs on Chargly under their own brand, and their team spends its time on stations and customers instead of on protocol edge cases and app store releases.

Build custom when software is the product: unusual business models, deep fleet or energy integrations, or a platform you intend to license to other operators. We take that work too, and Chargly is the proof we can carry a charging platform from first commit to production. The dividing line is usually volume and differentiation; below a few hundred charge points, custom development rarely pays for itself, and we will say so in the scoping call.

What does OCPP compliance involve in practice?

OCPP is a standard the way English is a language: every charger manufacturer speaks a dialect. Chargly communicates with more than 200 charger models over OCPP today, and that compatibility came from handling real-world quirks one at a time: nonstandard status notifications, firmware that drops WebSocket connections, and meter values sent in unexpected units. Compliance on paper is the easy part; keeping a mixed fleet connected in the field is the actual engineering work.

Our implementations cover the operational core: remote start and stop, transactions and meter values, availability and reservations, firmware updates, and smart charging profiles for load management. For OCPP 2.0.1 we implement device management and the improved security profiles where hardware supports them, with a 1.6 fallback because most deployed chargers still speak it. Everything is exercised against real charger hardware before it reaches your production network, because simulators only catch the polite failures.

Why Choose Kodenique for EV Charging Software Development

01

Chargly, our own EV charging platform, is live in production, so you hire a team that has already shipped one.

02

The EV168 network in Cambodia runs on our software every day: real stations, real payments, real drivers.

03

OCPP compatibility proven against more than 200 charger models, including the firmware quirks the specification never mentions.

04

White-label gets you live in weeks; custom builds start from patterns we already operate in production.
